In honor and memory of all who have given their lives for our country.

In 2017 I had the pleasure of visiting Notre Dame Cathedral. These are a few of the photos I took from the outside.

These were taken from a little cafe across from the Cathedral. While we ate, some gray clouds swung by, but passed withing a few moments.

The interior was stunning, but I felt uncomfortable taking pictures inside a place of worship. Luckily others did. I’d like to go back once the cathedral is rebuilt.
Here is the official book trailer for STAR TOUCHED.

Even the darkest night
Is only a few steps away
From dawn’s light
And the warmth of the sun

“How long are you going to keep us here?” asked Bridget, through chattering teeth.
Fear of hypothermia was overriding the threat of the stranger’s rifle. It was hard to enjoy nature’s beauty while freezing your naked bum off. She could barely feel her legs in the frigid water. Jason’s arms were tightly wrapped around his chest. Behind them crystal clear water cascaded over steep rocks. Their well-worn surface turned the waterfall into a musical lullaby. Both she and Jason had fallen sound asleep after their long hike. Then the stranger showed up. Now the sound knelled like a death sentence.
“Y’all just enjoy your little bath,” said the stranger. He lounged in the sun on their blanket eating fried chicken. Empty containers lay scattered about; all licked clean by their captor. “I haven’t eaten this well since I killed my ex.”
Bridget’s heart jumped. This was supposed to be paradise, not a nightmare. “You promised you wouldn’t hurt us.”
“Don’t you worry, darling.” He bit into a lemon tart and moaned with pleasure. “These are delicious. Sure you won’t consider staying?”
She glanced at Jason and saw the panic in his eyes. If he thought for a second that she’d consider the offer, he didn’t know her at all. Being one with nature didn’t include becoming part of it.
Bridget turned away. “No thanks.”
The stranger smiled and put a lighter on the blanket. “Too bad. Y’all get a fire going now.”
With one last wink, he vanished into the forest.

Weroo, weroo, weroo
Incessant sounds fill the air
Weroo, weroo, weroo
Bulging throats beckon
Weroo, weroo, weroo
Find me and I’m yours
Weroo, weroo, weroo
Your heart’s fulfillment lies with me
Weroo, weroo, weroo
Spring is here, spring is here
Devil’s tongue hung down, heat from the midday sun scorched the lookout rock. In the canyon below a small band of humans struggled through the twists and turns, heading straight for the Black Canyon pack’s den. The scent of dry death hung in the air. How could they not smell the spring only a few hundred yards away? Despite obvious need, the humans stumbled away from the only source of water for miles.
Humans were food to the Black Canyon leader, but Devil remembered his old human pack. Food had been plentiful, members full of love and kindness. They were gone, killed by the sky fire.
One of the human pups stumbled, then curled on the ground, whimpering. She was so like his little human. Devil reach the bottom of the canyon before he realized he had left his sentry post. The pack leader wouldn’t be happy.
Devil approached the humans cautiously, circling around until he stood between them and the spring. The scent of fear was strong, but they didn’t attack. One of the men moved toward him. Devil sprung back, toward the spring, then waited. Bit by bit he drew them closer to the spring, then sat several yards away as they drank their fill. He liked this pack. They felt right and the dried meat they tossed him was good.
Devil spun around as the Black Canyon leader approached. It was time to oust the real devil and return the Black Canyon pack to humans.
